There are nearly 300 hiking trails for you to explore in Gran Canaria. Many are well documented and mapped out. The official walking season is from October through to May, but you can walk in Gran Canaria at any time. To see the colour and beauty many hikers and ramblers enjoy the Spring when flowers and vegetation is at it’s best. Gran Canaria hosts a brilliant Walking Festival each year which attracts many enthusiasts.
For the more adventurous, there are a number of other activities to be enjoyed. For example why not try a course in rock climbing, Canyoning, and Ferreta. All these can be enjoyed in Gran Canaria.
While most of the routes start and finish in areas where there is no public transport, it is advisable to hire a car to get to many of these places. For the lone hiker this can be a challenge, so careful planning is essential. Self-guided walkers should bring a good map and guidebook or use one of the local walking apps. We recommend Rambling Roger whom has a number of guides for sale. Below are some of the companies offering such thrilling adventures!
