Spain is Open to UK

Monday, May 24th, 2021

Update: Since writing this article the situation has changed again. Both UK and Spain have updated covid entry requirements for international travel due to the covid pandemic.

Good News for British travellers to Spain! Tourists from the United Kingdom will be able to fly into Spain without having to reveal a negative COVID-19 test. As of mid-May 2021, Spain is at a Medium Risk stage, with the Average Number of Cases falling below 150 per 100,000. Spain’s Foreign Office announced that this was the case for all British tourists, including those who had not been vaccinated, with the only health condition being the completion of a health control form.

Travelers from the United Kingdom are allowed to visit Spain, but they must quarantine for at least 10 days upon their return and take two coronavirus tests at home, both of which must be negative before the quarantine can be lifted.

However, travellers from elsewhere in the EU will also be able to travel to Spain without having to undergo any tests if they come from a country that has been designated as “green” by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. This means travelers from orange, or red, designated countries will still be expected to have a PCR test or, beginning June 7, a completed vaccine dose approved before leaving home. However, the Spanish Embassy in the United Kingdom did clarify that travellers would still be required to fill out a “health form” before leaving the country.
