Travelling from Gran Canaria to UK

With Covid-19, testing and quarantine standards for international travel change frequently, making it difficult to keep up with the latest developments. To make it easier for you to figure out what you’ll need, we’ve compiled a list of the guidelines for travelling from Gran Canaria to England. (For travel to Scotland, Wales, and N.Ireland please check the government website for these nations.)

RECENT UPDATES:

All remaining Covid restrictions for travel from Gran Canaria to United Kingdom have been removed. Travellers will no longer need to complete a passenger locator form and there will be no requirements to test or quarantine. The above applies to everyone, regardless of their vaccination status.

Details about the Covid-19 forms and tests

When and how should I complete the Passenger Locator Form?

  • You must submit this online any time in the 48 hours before your arrival in the UK.
  • Any mandatory tests must be booked before completing the passenger locating form, as the test reference numbers are required for the form.
  • Follow this link and scroll down to the green “start now” button to complete the passenger location form.

What is the pre-departure test?

  • In order to prepare for your journey back to the UK,  you will need to take this test in Gran Canaria.
  • It is advised that you use a PCR test, however, LAMP or antigen (lateral flow) tests are also acceptable.
  • You must take the test within two days of your departure for England.
  • The test certificate must be written in one of the following languages: English, French, or Spanish.

What is the Day 2 test?

  • This test must be taken on or before day 2 after your return to / arrival in the UK.
  • The test must be scheduled before the passenger locator form can be completed, as the test reference number is necessary to complete the form.
  • This will require a PCR test, which will need to be acquired from a private supplier.
  • While lateral flow tests were previously approved for fully vaccinated travellers, this has now changed to a PCR test, regardless of vaccination status, as of 30/11/21.
  • COVID-19 tests from the NHS are not suitable for this purpose and are not accepted.

What is the Day 8 test?

  • This test must be taken on day 8 after your return to / arrival in the UK, if relevant.
  • The test must be scheduled before the passenger locator form can be completed, as the test reference number is necessary to complete the form.
  • This test, which must be a PCR, is only required for persons who have not been fully vaccinated.
  • A private provider must be used to order the test.
  • COVID-19 tests from the NHS are not suitable for this purpose.
