During peak months this dual-runway airport handles as many movements as Heathrow, the busiest airport in Europe. It is also known as Son Sant Joan Airport.
Palma Airport is located 8km east of the city of Palma Mallorca with easy access connections between the airport and the city. It covers a total of 6.3 km2 and its main terminal, designed by the famous Mallorcan architect Pere Nicolau Bover, was opened in 1997. In addition to the main terminal building, Palma Airport has four modules: Module A (the former Terminal A Building), Module B (the former Terminal B Building), Module C and Module D.
